Inclusivity, Care & Community

HAIR FOR THE PEOPLE exists as a shared space rooted in care, dignity, and mutual respect.

We are an inclusive studio and an affirming environment for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, races, bodies, abilities, neurotypes, and backgrounds. Everyone is welcome here.

Our approach to hair is inseparable from how we treat people. Consultations and services are conducted without assumption or hierarchy, and pricing is based on the work being done — never on gender. Where possible, pricing also takes into consideration the financial inequality experienced by many community members, including students, and is structured to allow broader access without compromising care.

Discrimination, harassment, or demeaning behaviour has no place in this space. This applies to clients, staff, and anyone present. Respect for one another is a condition of service.

We believe personal care is collective care. Maintaining a studio where people feel safe, seen, and supported is not a marketing position — it is a responsibility, and it informs every decision we make.

Colorful hand-drawn words on black background: kindness, equality, inclusion, love, diversity.

Community Care & Mutual Aid

HAIR FOR THE PEOPLE believes care should extend beyond the studio.

We are actively interested in donating time and professional services to community-led initiatives and events. This includes working with women’s shelters, organisations supporting survivors of domestic violence, and LGBTQIA+ organisations and community groups.

Where possible, these services are offered free of charge as part of our responsibility to the wider community.

Organisations, organisers, and advocates seeking support are welcome to contact us regarding donations, collaborations, or charitable enquiries.
